We
have found that the pictures on our website are what our readers enjoy most. I do the same thing our readers do when searching the internet for inspiration. When I stumble on a blog post, it is the pictures I find there that draws me in more so than the words initially. Big “Home Improvement” websites like
HGTV,
Better Homes and Gardens,
This Old House and Houzz.com all feature photo galleries that you can spend hours on paging through images.
Kitchen Designs Photo Galleries – Most Popular
Some of the websites our clients get ideas from are:
and of course our own
kitchen designs photo gallery here and on our
Houzz projects pages tend to be the photo galleries our clients reference most.
Social Media’s Influence on Design Ideas
Facebook, YouTube and Instagram are three of the largest social media platforms used by our clients. YouTube obviously is for video sharing and many designers and contractors are using this platform to feature their work. Our clients share kitchen and bathroom decor pictures posted by friends and liked pages with us during our initial consultations all the time. Often there are specific elements (lighting, countertop patterns, backsplashes, etc.) that caught their eye but none the less we can’t ignore where they are finding their inspiration.
Master Bathroom Ideas
One of our more popular blog posts is this one on
His and Her Bathrooms we have posted in the past. This particular blog post features 4 different master bathroom designs and the photo that pops up in conversations the most is this one below with
his and her master bathroom vanities on either side of the porcelain tub.
In this case, I have answered the question, “How do we keep the floor dry?” more often than not. But as you can see, the image creates a desire to know more.
Visual Storytelling Helps Stain the Wood
Another popular blog post on our website is the one where we suggested
light wood floors in the kitchen that features darker stained cabinets. The demand for wood flooring in kitchens we design continues to grow each year. Darker cabinetry requires lighter contrasts to brighten the space. By using color swatches and examples of kitchens using lighter wood floors, we were able to help the homeowner envision how this combination might work in their own home.
