Because the laundry room and pantry are often connected to the kitchen, we find ourselves redesigning many of the ancillary spaces of a home and that extends to sunrooms, breakfast nooks, outdoor kitchens, and the
custom home bar. In today’s post we will focus on 4 laundry room designs that we have been involved with in this recent year. The cabinetry for a laundry room is often just as important as the appliances. So, we will focus on the laundry room cabinets in each of these designs below.
Laundry Room Design with a B&W Scheme
The flooring in this first design is what stands out most to the average eye. We selected a checkered marble porcelain tile with a matte finish. It all started with the black and while stacked washer and dryer appliances that our customers already had decided upon. We used shaker style kitchen cabinets when we designed the kitchen. Therefore, we carried that style over into the laundry room design but with a few modifications.
Cabinets for This Laundry Room
We developed a custom cabinet design that used a framed inset. The corner unit near the sink is open shelving with two drawers to hold pretreatment accessories and scrubbing tools since there are active kids and one avid gardener in the household. So, the sink would be getting some serious use rinsing off boots, shoes, gloves, gardening tools and dirty hands. Notice the two drawers above the rolling baskets? Hidden in those drawers are custom pull out drying racks for the shoes, gloves and delicate items that need to air dry. The flat panel doors are in a shaker style design. And we painted all the cabinet surfaces with a Natural Cream color from Benjamin Moore. We thought the two laundry baskets a nice creative touch with great functionality.
Laundry Room Sink We Selected
We went with a Kraus Stainless Steel Undermount sink with a polished nickel faucet
that we discovered in the Kohler Tournant line of faucets. The undermount installation has the added benefit of making your sink area easier to clean. Simply wipe water and debris from the countertop straight into the basin. It is constructed with an 16 gauge stainless steel bowl which is more that sufficient for this purpose. We had a Shiplap style backsplash installed and a beautiful Negresco Granite countertop that just blends with the whole design.
Modern Laundry Room Remodel Uses Hidden Accents
Sunlight and high hat recessed lighting help brighten the laundry room tasks for this homeowner. The creamy colors of the 12 x 24 inch porcelain tile flooring, and “Cream Crackle” subway tiles backsplash add an elegant softness to the décor of this room. We selected a beautiful piece of Quartzite countertop the vendor called “Taj Mahal”. We had him polish the countertop after installation to a high reflective shine.
Laundry Room Storage Ideas That Tuck Away Hidden Gems
Our customer asked for an ironing board that offers easy access to be part of our design. So, we created a customized pullout with help from our team at
Hafele just under the countertop at waist height. Easy in-out gliding rails make this feature a dream come true for this homeowner. Just under the board is a clothing hamper that is also hidden from plain view. The cabinetry is also a framed inset painted a “White Dove” color with raised panel doors.
Laundry room sinks are a big deal to us and we love the craftsmanship found with The
Lenova Group. This Single Bowl undermount sink is 23” x 18” x 12”. We selected a single handle pull-down faucet from Delta with an Arctic Stainless finish.
Laundry Mud Room Designs Thomas Jefferson Would Love
Monticello Rose is this paint color we selected with our customer for this laundry room Here we had a very large template with design with. This very classy cabinet color was paired with a sage color wallpaper design and we are thrilled with the results. The side by side washer and dryer has its own customized cabinet space with plenty of countertop space above. We selected a very large Dakar Polished Quartzite slab that we used for the whole room.
The cabinetry hardware is from Top Knobs and we landed on the Ascendra Pull collection of hardware. The sink is from Elkay manufacturing, who have been making sinks for over 100 years…and high quality work all that time. The faucet is from the Ludik collection from The House of Rohl. This particular pull down facet is finished with decorative Chrome.
