Welcome to our “Summertime Blues” post, where we showcase three stunning designs featuring shades of blue and white in our color scheme. As summer comes to an end, explore a kitchen with a kitchen that employs soft blue subway tiles, one with a pointed picket tile backsplash, and a home bar with a striking midnight blue painted island cabinetry that is topped with a flawless slab of Negresco Black Granite countertop. Each design we believe captures the essence of summer blues, blending style and elegance. Dive in to discover these captivating spaces!
Blue and White Kitchen Ideas
In this elegant kitchen design, soft blue tones blend seamlessly with Surfside white cabinetry, creating a serene and beachy atmosphere. The raised panel doors on the
white kitchen cabinets are accented by decorative bracket feet, a hallmark of
Greenfield Cabinetry's custom craftsmanship. Flanking the exhaust hood, two upper cabinet doors feature a stunning gothic mullion design with glass fronts, adding a touch of sophistication. The stainless steel hardware, including chalet pulls and ring knobs enhance the timeless appeal of these cabinets.
Soft Blue Subway Tile Backsplash with an Accent
The backsplash, made of antiqued marble blue subway tiles, introduces a delicate touch of color. Arranged in a mosaic pattern, this backsplash adds texture and visual interest. Behind the stove, a custom medallion mosaic tile serves as a captivating focal point. Illuminating the space, the Chapman & Myers Grosvenor 3 Light pendant from Visual Comfort provides a warm and inviting glow.
The countertops are crafted from Mont Blanc quartzite, a material known for its sturdiness, stunning appearance, and versatility, offering a superior alternative to marble. The kitchen island boasts an elegant ogee edge, while the perimeter countertops feature a sleek straight edge profile, ensuring a harmonious and cohesive design throughout the kitchen.
Apron Front Farmhouse Sink
The House of Rohl's Original Lancaster fireclay farmhouse sink we selected boasts an elegant apron front and single bowl design. Complemented by the Holborn Bridge hardware, featuring two handles and a sprayer, this sink combines timeless charm with modern functionality, making it a standout centerpiece in any kitchen.
Blue Picket Tile Backsplash with White & Waterscape Green Cabinets
If you dreamed of a white picket fence around your home when you were young, then you may be dreaming of a picket tile backsplash in your kitchen today. This kitchen design features a blue picket tile backsplash arranged with the tiles arranged horizontally. We went with a matte finish since this room gets plenty of sun and found that a glossy tile would reflect that sun too much.
What stands out most in this kitchen design is the Waterscape blue color (SW6470) we selected for the painted cabinetry on the peninsula and center islands. Offset by the lighter color of the wood look floor tiles, the Waterscape blue color has more of a warm green undertone than a blue midtone. The cabinets are a framed inset style with flat Panel doors to give it that modern feel. We love working with our team at
Cabredo Cabinets in Lancaster County PA. Always great craftsmanship and the painting/finishing is top notch. They are a family owned custom cabinet makers that love what they do.
Tile Flooring That Looks Like Wood
Tile flooring planks that look like wood are much easier to install than traditional hard wood flooring. The cost of these 6” x 36” wood look planks is also much less than real wood floors as well. Some time ago we shared this post featuring
dark wood cabinetry with light wood floors. As you can see, the light wood tiles goes very well with these painted cabinets.
We selected a slab of Calacatta Borghini Quartz countertops for all of our surfaces. The
peninsula style kitchen island design in this kitchen is a multi-functional space in this home. Dinner for two, a quick spot to make phone calls during work hours and a homework space when the kids get home. Our customer loves the two stools. Both stylish and the splash of a burnt orange color is a perfect fit.
Blue Kitchen Island Design for Our Cocktails and Coffee Area
Over the years we have been tapped to do a few
custom home bar designs for customers. Recently we added this in-home bar design to our portfolio. It also fits in well with our blue and white theme for this Summertime Blues post.
Again, we went with a framed kitchen cabinet style for this beverage area. We painted the kitchen island cabinetry a deep Midnight Blue color (BM 1638) and it looks wonderful against these real hardwood floors. The “back bar” area has wall cabinets that are painted a creamy white color (BM OC-7) and use a
shaker style kitchen cabinet door.
One of my favorite features about this design is our decision to go with a shiplap vaulted ceiling. I don’t know if any other guests will be looking up, but I do every time I visit. This customer loves the shiplap vaulted ceilings we have designed mainly for how it opens up the room. It also adds more clean lines and texture to the design. Like a home along the New England shoreline, the shiplap design adds timeless character with a modern chic.
For the countertop in the bar area, we went with a thick Negresco black granite slab with a straight cut profile. 4 x 4 square polished tile is what we used for the backsplash to contrast with the black granite.
The blue kitchen island is topped with a thick piece of Vera Cruz white quartz we sourced from our team at Valiant Tech Surfaces. 4 x 4 square polished tile is what we used for the backsplash.
Don’t you just love these stools? They are Riviera Rattan Bar & Counter Stools in Navy/White and the Piatto Large Pendant lighting fixtures have a hand-rubbed antique brass finish that really works well in this design.
As summer comes to a close, we wanted to share with you three designs we did this this year that our customers love and we are very proud of. If you are considering a new kitchen, bath or beverage bar design in your future, I hope this post has inspired you. Need someone to bring you visions to life?
