Lauren’s affinity for design and color developed at an early age. Her knack for space planning became apparent when she began rearranging her bedroom, which years later, lead her to peruse a career in Interior Design. She graduated from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale earning a B.S. in Interior Design.

Prior to joining Tobias Design, Lauren worked extensively with residential and commercial design companies in Virginia and Arizona, a major national furniture company, and as a licensed Realtor. Many of her notable design projects include work with Virginia Military Institute, leading regional Community Care Retirement Centers and collegiate facilities. Her projects span multiple operational areas including restaurants, kitchens, guest apartments, residential halls, dining rooms, multi-purpose rooms, outdoor spaces, bathing and toilet facilities, and community areas. Along with her state-side design projects, she also worked for the Award-winning multidisciplinary design firm Mimesi 62 Associated Architects in Florence, Italy. Her work with Mimesi62 Associated Architects encompassed designs of office suites, single family dwellings and public venues.

Lauren is a detailed-oriented designer who works closely though all phases of design to ensure that the end result is an expression of the client, while supporting the branding, schedules and budget requirements. She believes that successful design should be timeless, inspiring and articulate the client’s individually, while serving the functioning needs and goals of the space and the client.

Lisa Tobias started her professional career in New York working in the arena of employee benefit consulting as an actuarial assistant. Understanding she had an untapped creative side she shifted into communications of employee benefits. After 20 years of working as a professional she once again transformed her career, yet continuing to merge her love of math and the arts, into kitchen and bath design.

She’s been in business for 11 years – first operating out of a home office in Princeton before building out a showroom in Hopewell in 2005.

Lisa Tobias prides herself on working with her clients to design a unique kitchen, bathroom, or other home space that reflects their personalities and needs.

 “I am like the actor who absorbs herself into the character. I put myself into the mindset of each client.” Lisa and her associates use this technique to design kitchens and bathrooms to capture the true style of the homeowner.  The outcome is a unique transformation of a kitchen or bathroom.  No two projects are ever alike.
She works with clients from concept to installation, managing the process very closely. She creates the layout, and also builds in 10 free hours for the selection of materials that’ll complete the story – paint choice, hardware, lighting, cabinets, and countertops. She works with bathrooms in much the same way.

Lisa particularly enjoys period homes and has had the privilege of restoring many historic farm houses built circa 1600s-1800s.  She enjoys the challenge of creating something that is usable by today’s standards, but speaks to the architectural age of the home.
